A rule-abiding good girl, Rebecca Undem spent many nights of her youth dreaming of the hustle and exhilaration of a big city, where she would dash to meetings in a sharp business suit, wielding an over-priced coffee and a name-brand briefcase.

Years later, she finds herself returning to her hometown in rural North Dakota (more than seventy miles from the nearest Target) to help with the family business. While juggling a stroller full of kids and a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins, Rebecca questions everything she thought she knew about herself.

Personal, endearing and honest, How Mommy Got Her Groove Back takes you on Rebecca’s journey of self-discovery, liberation from the expectations of others, and confidence to redefine success.
Who knows? You might even stumble upon your own groove.

How Mommy Got Her Groove Back eBook Carol McAdoo Rehme Reviews

I loved it!!! I cried ten minutes into the book and there were times I laughed aloud. My emotions were engaged from the beginning. I could hardly wait to get back to it each time I had to put it down. I may not be from a small country town but I was able to relate to the feelings, values, experiences, thought processes and decision making. Faith. Family. Friends. Creating our own definition of what works for ourselves and our family doesn't always come quickly or easily. It can be a moving target too! Thank you for generously sharing your experiences, insight, compassion and humor.
Such a terrific read! I knew I was going to enjoy the book, because I simply enjoy reading anything well-written & the author's blogging has proven I would get that much. But what I didn't expect (at my 40+ years of age) was how completely absorbed I would be, and how very much I would relate to all the feelings she deals with, the choices she questions, the value she eventually reminds herself she has regardless of her job title and location. I read it cover-to-cover... and likely will again when I need a reminder of what success is, and that we are defined by so much more than our job title.
If you're looking for a 'real' read full off truth...this is it. It was not only relevant but scary relatable. Being a mom is selfless. Being a wife/partner is work. Remembering to put yourself on the list is challenging but not impossible. Great food for thought and is a recommend read for any mom looking to find her groove again.
I loved this book! I found I was able to relate very well to Rebecca and her journey. As moms, we often struggle with what it means to be successful. It's not always about work, and it's not always about being that perfect mom. It's about finding your own personal groove. ) Rebecca's journey of finding her groove shows us that we can't plan our life out perfectly...there is someone above who has a better plan, His Plan, and that plan will make us happier than anything we could have dreamed up in our mind.
I'm well-known among friends and family as a reader, so I was gifted this for Christmas. It was a quick read, mostly because there was little depth. The whole read felt very "surface-level." Deep and meaningful life events are briefly mentioned in two to four page chapters, and then never revisited. It didn't give me the opportunity to feel connected or invested. On top of that, the book is titled, "How Mommy Got her Groove Back," so I assumed it would feel a little more like I was reading something told from the viewpoint of a fellow mom, but it felt more like I was reading something written by a career woman. The whole book mostly focused on the author's career; it was completely unrelateable to me as stay-at-home mom. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't call it good either. I finished it because I don't like to leave a book unfinished, but I won't read it again, and I won't pass it along to a friend.
This was a fun, quick and easy read which is great for a busy mom!
If you want an easy and energetic read to relate to your so called "rural life" check out this book by Rebecca Rodine Undem!! It's a page turner that will keep you engaged and wanting more. Hats off to this author, mother, business women and farmer's wife from Oakes, ND!!!
